At Legato Living, everything we do is fueled by a deep love for our residents and a commitment to providing them with a life of dignity, comfort, and joy. It all starts with our wonderful owners, like Symidahl Okereke, whose passion for senior care has shaped Legato Living at Indian Hills into a unique, home-like haven in the heart of Omaha.
A Lifelong Journey Toward Caring
Symidahl’s story begins right here in Omaha, Nebraska. Growing up, she attended Joslyn Elementary, Beverage Middle School, and Burke High School within the Omaha Public School System. Her passion for music took her to Iowa Western, where she pursued a music degree and became the first drummer to play trap set for the All-City Choir.
Later on, Symidahl earned an accounting and finance degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. But even as she explored different paths, her heart was always drawn back to seniors. Volunteering at the Rose Blumkin Home with the United Way planted the seeds of her lifelong dedication to elder care. She fondly recalls her childhood surrounded by seniors at her church, where she listened to their stories and cherished the connection she shared with them.
For Symidahl, caring for seniors is deeply personal. Her grandmother has lived with her for nearly 16 years, and as her Parkinson’s disease has progressed, Symidahl has been by her side through every stage. This deeply personal experience inspired her to become part of the Legato Living family of owners.
A Home Where Love Comes First
Legato Living at Indian Hills was thoughtfully designed to feel like home for its residents. Symidahl believes in the importance of creating a warm, inviting environment where individuals are treated as people, not defined by their diseases. Whether it’s the smell of homestyle cooking wafting through the halls or the laughter shared during activities, Legato Living at Indian Hills is a place where residents truly feel loved and at ease.
One of the most special aspects of Legato Living is its focus on personalized care. With a smaller community, residents can avoid the sensory overload that sometimes comes with larger facilities. Instead, they enjoy tailored attention, meaningful interactions, and a genuine sense of belonging.
A Call to Rediscover Quality of Life
At Legato Living at Indian Hills, it’s not just about caregiving; it’s about giving back quality of life. Symidahl’s mission is to ensure that every resident feels valued and comfortable, regardless of their condition. With her own experiences as both a caregiver and a granddaughter, she understands the importance of fostering a loving, respectful space that feels like family.
Located conveniently near 85th and Dodge, by Methodist Hospital, Legato Living Indian Hills is easily accessible for Omaha families. If you’re ready to see what makes Legato Living so special, we’d love to show you around.
