Legato Living at Heartland Hills offers a serene and enriching environment for its residents. But beyond the beautiful scenery and top-notch care services, there is a heartwarming story of dedication and family behind this establishment—one that revolves around its owners, Greg and Alicia Zuger.

A Personal Journey Rooted in Compassion

Greg and Alicia Zuger are not only business partners but also life partners who share a profound commitment to providing outstanding care for the elderly. Their journey into the world of senior care is deeply rooted in their personal experiences with their own grandparents. Both Greg and Alicia cherished close relationships with their grandparents, assisting them with various tasks and outings as they aged. These experiences instilled in them a deep understanding of the need for compassion, continuity, and a supportive community for seniors.

A Glimpse into The Owners’ Backgrounds

Greg Zuger

Greg brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to Legato Living. He graduated from Creighton Prep and spent nearly 20 years in the construction industry before taking on the role of a stay-at-home dad—a decision prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This period allowed Greg to focus on family and prepare for his next venture. His background in construction has undoubtedly contributed to the thoughtful design and maintenance of the Heartland Hills property, including the creation of a large wrap-around deck that offers residents a tranquil space to enjoy scenic views and wildlife.

Alicia Zuger

Alicia’s professional journey is equally impressive. She graduated from Bellevue University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and dedicated nearly 20 years to the child welfare sector as the co-owner and Executive Director of Apex Foster Care. In addition to her expertise in foster care, Alicia is a licensed Realtor in Nebraska and has a keen interest in real estate investment. Her extensive experience in care management and business operations ensures that Legato Living runs smoothly and efficiently.

A Shared Vision

Owners, Greg and Alicia currently reside in Omaha, Nebraska, with their son Nicholas and their three pets—two lively dogs, Rizzo and Rocky, and a cat named Wrigley. Their passion for creating a nurturing and safe environment extends beyond their family to the residents of Legato Living at Heartland Hills.

The couple’s shared vision for Legato Living is evident in every aspect of their work. They understand the weight of the decision families face when placing a loved one in someone else’s care. Therefore, they strive to ensure that each resident feels at home, surrounded by compassionate caregivers and engaging activities. All ten residents at Heartland Hills live on the same level, fostering a sense of community and allowing them to participate in group activities.

Looking Towards the Future

Greg and Alicia’s commitment to senior care doesn’t stop at Heartland Hills. They have ambitious plans to expand Legato Living with two additional locations in Papillion and Gretna within the next five years. Their dedication to improving and maintaining the quality of life for their residents is unwavering, and they aim to bring their exceptional care model to even more families in Nebraska.

In their free time, the Zugers enjoy spending quality moments together as a family, often found cheering for the Cubs, Bears, or Huskers. Their love for each other and their residents shines through in everything they do, making Legato Living at Heartland Hills not just a place to live, but also a place to call home.
